For the 2021 November PAD Chapbook Challenge, poets are tasked with writing a poem a day in the month of November before assembling a chapbook manuscript in the month of December. Today’s prompt is to write a special poem.

For today’s prompt, write a special poem. I know all poems are special, but I’m thinking about a poem written for or inspired by someone or something that is very special to you. So an ode to a loved one would work. Or a poem about a special restaurant, bookstore, or moment in time could as well. Write a poem today, and make it special.

Remember: These prompts are springboards to creativity. Use them to expand your possibilities, not limit them.

Here’s my attempt at a Special Poem:

“marion’s piazza”

i don’t remember the first time i ate there
or even the most recent
but i know every time i eat there
it tastes like perfection
like it was made with some special spell
that makes it impossible to ruin my pizza
the most perfectly imperfect circle imaginable
