For the 2021 November PAD Chapbook Challenge, poets are tasked with writing a poem a day in the month of November before assembling a chapbook manuscript in the month of December. Today’s prompt is to write a thankful poem.

For today’s prompt, write a thankful poem. I hope everyone has something in their lives to be thankful for, even if it’s just to have the ability to put a few words together today.

Remember: These prompts are springboards to creativity. Use them to expand your possibilities, not limit them.

Here’s my attempt at a Thankful Poem:

“appreciation”

it’s easy to say thank you
& it’s easy to say please
but their ease can dilute
the worth of both of these

i’m thankful for your presence
at this table that i’ve set
& hope that among my presents
you’ll share the words that you get
